【tandem touring】 Izu Peninsula (1)

Izu Peninsula, where is far located ８0 km from Tokyo, the Capital of Japan, is in favor of both motorbike riders and vehicle drivers to visit on leisure time.　Drive along seaside, or, drive through countrylike small towns, or, go up and down hillside…

Lots of riders and drivers are fascinated by the peninsula and become repeaters.  Katsumi, my husband , is one of them. He took me to the south-west area of the peninsula on July 18.

Here was the route which he rode on this time. Departure →　via Hakone pass →Izu skyline High Way → Lunch break at Old and traditional farmer’s house restaurant at Hiekawa → via Nishina pass →　Matsuzaki town →　back to the City of Mishima via Line that traverse the peninsula from Numazu(bottom) to Shimoda(front) →　via Haknone pass →　Arrival. About 8h30m.

The Old and Traditional farmers' house restaurant is worthwhile to visit.　We have already been there more than four times. Everytime we go, we are satisfied with dishes.  All cook at the restaurant is local housewives nearby.  They are all good at cooking. Why don’t you challenge eating old Japanese home cooking ?

  Nishina Pass

Nishina pass is the place where is located highest of all other pass at Izu peninsula.  Air is somewhat cool. You could see a small farm on the way of downhill and also see distanced Matuzaki town below . Matsuzaki town is a small and countrylike fishermens’town whose famous person is Irie Chohachi, a talented artistic plasterer in 19^th century. There are now two facilities to study about Irie Chohachi ; one is a museum and another is a temple where he worked. With regret, we only visited the temple.  You should visit both of them if you have time.

My husband is the rider who doesn’t like taking a frequent break on drive. That’s why I got very tired at hip , even though doing nothing but sit on backseat of motorbike.

Too long in one time. This is the point which I have claim on his plan for tandem touring.
