The house of NIRE

I completely read through " The House of NIRE ", one of Japan's modern literature which we recommend you to read, if you have chance. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/4770023936/ref=redir_mdp_mobile) The author of the novel is KITA MORIO.( 1927- 2011 ) KITA, he was born at doctor's of upper middle class . He wrote the inside world of the upper middle class between the late of 19 th century and the end of World War Ⅱ, with showing his private family tree.

His father , his elder brother and KITA himself were doctor of psychiatry and novelist. With interesting, KITA himself was doctor of psychiatry and the same time surffered from manic-depressed. The too long and detailed novel and the same time reportage of family tree might have been produced by character of the author.

His saying story resembles what my mother used to tell me. My mother was born of a daughter of a successful entrepreneur in 1935. It was until 1950 that she, my mother, enjoyed the society of upper middle class. In 1950, her father, a successful entrepreneur, suddenly passed away. The entrepreneurship of his own had completely fallen down by his death.

In the novel of " The House of NIRE ", too, the first-generation of the NIRE family, KIICHIRO NIRE hired Mrs. Shimoda as a nanny for his children. While for child-care of the Family of NIRE, Mrs. Shimoda left the baby of her own at her home and had lived together with the Family of NIRE until her death. It was NOT rare case at the society of upper middle class in Japan those days. Actually there were many house keeper who contribute to the Family of the owner. And KIICHIRO had head hunting an inteligent boy who will look to be going to great later at his home town. The Master of House of upper middle class who lives in urban city , often have financial aid or take the inteligent-looking boy at local to go up to advanced school in cities. The Masters of those days looked much more fatherhood and mastery than those who of today, although it is NOT obligation .

The family of NIRE manages to psychiatry after studying at Berlin. The author also wrote how Asians were treated in the European society in 1930's. His details in every scenery are as clear as like pictures.
This is worthwhile reading.
